Back to the Beginning!
It all started in Lefkothea Georgantis’ living room, where she sold beaded jewellery to friends and local Double Bay mums. She also became the first (and only!) Camilla stockist, making sure every single piece found its way into the hands of her community. A few years later... Girls with Gems opened its very first boutique on Bay Street, Double Bay.
The Early Years - Cross Street
GWG found its third home on Cross Street, Double Bay - a fresh space that marked another big step forward! The boutique quickly became a local go-to, showcasing major Australian icons like Camilla and Zimmermann front and centre.
Next Stop... Transvaal Ave!
GWG moved into its current boutique space at 5 Transvaal Avenue, Double Bay - and it was love at first sight! Bigger, brighter, and buzzing with energy! With great style at its core and community at its heart, GWG grew into something far beyond just a store.
A Family Legacy Continues
After working in the boutique since day one, Lia Georgantis made the bold move to leave her corporate law career behind and take over her mum’s beloved business. Driven by her passion to grow GWG and continue the community that had always been at its heart, she stepped in to lead the next chapter.
Our Community went Digital... and DOUBLED
Lockdown gave Lia the chance to reimagine GWG - refreshing the brand, reshaping the online strategy, and riding the wave of the Rozalia x Atoir tracksuit, (the must-have set of the year!). It was also when our “Same, Same but Different Size” try on content was born! Which became a corner piece for GWG's new marketing strategy.
Sneaky Link is Born!
In December 2022, Sneaky Link was born with the launch of the OG “Thalassa” print - the start of an exciting new chapter for GWG’s very own in-house brand! By 2023, Sneaky Link had already made waves, collaborating with American Express for Vogue Fashion’s Night Out, hitting the runway, and hosting a pop-up on Sydney’s Pitt Street Mall.
Big Love, Bigger Growth - GWG x SL
Lia and John said “I do” in gorgeous Greece! And while the champagne flowed overseas, GWG and Sneaky Link kept blooming back home. Many milestones were met and we may have sent Havaiana's into a frenzy! GWG has grown into a powerhouse online retailer, backed by a passionate and an ever-expanding team of GEMS!
